"Golden Grummans"

"Golden Grummans"

Completed 2015

Painting dimensions 24" x 30" inches acrylic on watercolor canvas.

This scene depicts then Alaska Airlines CEO Charles Willis' Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat in formation with an Alaska Airlines Grumman G-21 “Goose.” In 1968 Willis had Little nugget painted in Alaska's livery as a marketing tool. He flew it out of Paine Field Everett WA for about two years. The " Hellcat " was the only other Grumman product to carry AA markings. This " Goose " has just delivered a load of Salmon to Seattle's SeaTac Airport, and is returning to Ketchikan with a load of parts for the rest of the G-21 fleet.
