Thunderchicken and Seabee, Leduc Glacier 1953
During 1953, Kenmore Air was hired to fly re-supply missions to copper prospectors on the leduc Glacier in British Columbia. The Noorduyn Norseman and Republic Seabee were able to land and takeoff from the snow, but had to avoid going over the previously made ruts at higher speeds.
This painting depicts Kenmore's founder Bob Munro flying in his beloved "Thunderchicken" while he observes his company's Seabee safely lifting off the glacier.
